In 1994, there were 18 hits that reached peak position, in 53 issues of the magazine. Morrissey had the longest run among the singles that have reached peak position in 1994, spending 7 consecutive weeks beginning with the issue dated April 2 and ending on May 14. Other singles with extended chart runs were Toad the Wet Sprocket's "Fall Down" and The Cranberries' "Zombie"; both spent six straight weeks atop the chart, while Beck's "Loser", Green Day's "Basket Case" and R.E.M.'s "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" topped the chart for five weeks. Aside from Beck, Green Day and The Cranberries, 1994 saw debut number one hits by Pearl Jam, Live, and The Offspring (all of whom have since released two more number one hits each). ==Chart history==
